TNR Efforts in Americus

1/10/2026

Attention Residents! As noted in previous City Council meetings, our community continues to experience a growing population of stray and community cats. In an effort to proactively address this issue, the City of Americus has partnered with Street Cats Club and Forever Home Pet Rescue to implement a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) effort for the local stray cat population. TNR is widely recognized as the only effective and humane approach to managing and stabilizing community cat populations. With continued complaints and reports from residents throughout town, we are expanding our efforts to identify hotspots and prioritize areas in need of TNR services.

If you have seen or continue to see outside, stray, or unowned cats near your home, please help by reporting them to our local TNR effort. These reports help the city and our partners identify hotspots and prioritize areas where Trap-Neuter-Return services are most needed.
