Dear Americus Residents,

Black Hills Energy will soon begin important upgrades to the natural gas system in your community. As this work gets underway, you may notice flagging and markings throughout town as crews locate existing utilities. This is a normal and necessary part of preparing for construction.

Once the new gas main has been installed, our crew will return to replace the individual service lines to homes. If you have any private underground lines on your property, please coordinate with the project inspector and onsite crew to help ensure these lines are identified and protected during construction.

Please also be aware that some fenced‑off excavation areas may need to remain open over the weekend. These areas will be clearly marked for your safety.

The well‑being of Americus residents remains our top priority, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete this essential work.

LATE FEE CHANGES

Upcoming Change to Sewer Bill Late Fees

Beginning March 1, 2026, the City will transition from annual sewer late fees to a monthly late fee system. Under the new policy, any sewer account with an outstanding balance at the end of the month will be charged a $10 late fee.
