How long does it take to get a library card?

Our librarian will be able to supply you with a new library card the same day you apply.

Does the Library have kids activities?

We host Preschool Story Time for younger children to spark early literacy and a joy of reading! Give us a call for the current schedule if one is not posted. 620-443-5503.

What hours is City Hall open?

City Hall is open from 9am - 3pm daily.

Does the City of Americus hire seasonal positions?

Pending budget availability, the City does hire seasonal employees, typically during the summer months. Seasonal job openings will be announced on the City’s Facebook page, in the Emporia Gazette, and through the Americus City newsletter.

What is the process for getting a building permit?

Take a moment to read all required information provided above. Then print and fill out the provided building permit application form and return to the City Office.  Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to give us a call or send us an email.  We will be happy to help you!

When are the garbage collection days for my street?

Trash scheduled pickups are on Fridays. Remember, observed holidays will alter the pick-up schedule.

Observed holidays where pick-up will be altered to the following Saturday are as follows:

• Thanksgiving
• Christmas
• New Year's

Altered dates may be reminded through the City of Americus' Facebook, website, newsletter, and/or phone/email alerts. 

Who do I contact with questions regarding the Americus Cemetery?

Ron with the Americus Township can answer questions regarding the cemetery and is available to assist with the purchase of burial plots. Ron may be reached at Cell (620) 341-0023, Landline (620) 366-5055.
